Century College Baseball Players Sign with NCAA Colleges

The 2015-16 Century College baseball program had 3 players sign National Letters of Intent to continue their career at NCAA Division II and NAIA programs during the fall NCAA signing period.

Sophomores Ryan Schlosser (Minnesota State – Mankato), Noah Bluth (Minnesota State – Mankato), and Matt Hasselquist (Grand View University) signed national letters of intent to continue their baseball careers and are receiving baseball scholarships.  Schlosser and Hasselquist were major contributors to for the Wood Ducks as they finished 4th at the 2015 NJCAA World Series.

Noah Bluth played his freshmen year at Southwest Minnesota State University before transferring to Century for the 2015-16 year.

Schlosser is a RHP from South St. Paul HS and was 9-3 with 3.65 ERA as a freshman in 2015.  In 71.1 innings, Schlosser struck out 81 and walked only 18.  He was also named 2nd Team NJCAA All American in 2015.

Hasselquist is a 1B from Chisago Lakes HS and hit .292 with 5 HR and 31 RBI as a freshman in 2015.   Bluth is a catcher from St Anthony Village HS and hit .457 as a freshman with Southwest Minnesota State in 2015.

“We are very excited for these players to have the opportunity to move on the next level and play for some great programs,” stated Head Coach Dwight Kotila.  “They came to Century College with the goal of moving on to a top level university, and through their hard work, their goal was reached.”

The NCAA early signing period is held in the fall (starting November 11), and also has a spring signing period in April.   “We have other sophomores who will be signing with NCAA schools in the spring as well”, stated Coach Kotila.

In the last 5 years, Century has now had over 40 players move on to NCAA D1, D2, D3, and NAIA colleges.
